Sutton, meaning 'South Settlement' in Saxon, is a small village in the
Southern Tablelands ofNew South Wales ,Australia in Yass Valley Shire. It is situated on the west bank of theYass River , about 13 kilometres as the crow flies southwest of Gundaroo, near the Federal Highway, not far fromCanberra . It has a population of about 350 and has a school and a shop. The school has about 150 students and goes from Kindergarten all the way up to grade 6.Sutton Park is about 5 minutes from Sutton. It has a population of around 180 people.
Sutton Village has 4 businesses: Sutton Store (including the Post Office, liquor, fuel and general supplies), Sutton Real Estate, Sutton Rural Sales and Supplies ( a stock feed and supplies store) and Sutton Country Meats (a butcher). Sutton's surrounding area is about 50 kilometres across and is bordered by the
Australian Capital Territory ,Wamboin andGundaroo . Sutton has its own volunteer Bush Fire Brigade located in the village.
