Braceborough

Braceborough is a small hamlet in Lincolnshire, England, just west off the A15 as it runs between Market Deeping and Bourne, tucked out of the way on the A6121.

Braceborough was once Braceborough Spa, a magnet for Victorian era hypochondriacs to come and bathe in the natural spring waters. A Bath House was built in 1841, and Doctor Willis treated George III here for his madness. His royal patient used to stay in a wing of Shillingthorpe Hall nearby, now demolished, but there is a tablet in Greatford Church to this note.

As with all Victorian Spas, Braveborough's declined in favour as more modern medicines became more prevalent, and finally closed in 1939.
