Harlan Page

Harlan O. Page (March 20 1887November 23 1965) was one of basketball's first star players in the 1900s. The 5' 9"/1.75 m Watervliet, Michigan native played guard at the University of Chicago (1906-1910) and was known as a defensive specialist.

He also played quarterback for the football varsity. While leading Chicago to three national championships (1908-1910), Page was named Helms Foundation All-American each time and finally named National Player of the Year in 1910.

Following his playing days, Page embarked on a successful coaching career at the University of Chicago (1910-1920, 1930-33), Butler University (1920-25) and The College of Idaho (1937-1939). He compiled a 267-149 overall record and led Butler to the 1924 AAU title. In 1962 he was enshrined to the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player.
