- Harry DeBoer
Harry DeBoer (1903 – 1992) was an American labor militant and Trotskyist. He was born in
Crookston, Minnesota cite web |url=http://www.wellredusa.com/pamphlets.asp |title=Wellred USA Online Store |accessdate=2007-08-30 |format= |work=http://www.wellredusa.com/pamphlets.asp ] , and worked in theMinneapolis coal yards and became one of the leaders of theMinneapolis Teamsters Strike of 1934 . DeBoer joined the Socialist Workers Party, and as a leading member of the SWP he was imprisoned under theSmith Act together with many other SWP leaders for opposing the US involvement in theWorld War II . In 1987, DeBoer wrote the essay "How to Win Strikes: Lessons from the 1934 Minneapolis Truckers Strike", in which he sought to make the tactics used in the Minneapolis strike known to a new generation of socialists. In his later life, DeBoer was a member of theCommittee for a Workers International .Notes
