The village population is around 3000 people. The occupations of the village are farming and animal husbandry. People predominantly speak telugu.
Attractions
The village will be insignificant in Nellore district with out the following two things.
* Gandipalem state reservoir: The dam was built here to save many villages in Udaygiri Mandal from femine in summer season and to support irrigation for around 600 km² in faraway places from riverPennar . The main source of the reservoir is river Manneru, a tributary toPennar . The 130 km length River Manneru starts near Pillipalli village of Kanigiri taluk of Prakasam district. Dokkalavagu, Uppuvagu, Pillaperu and Upputeru are the main tributaries of this river.
* Government Residential School: It is a Gurukula Patasala, where kids not only study, but also live amongst their peers from 5th grade to 10th grade schooling. Andhra Pradesh state government patterns two high quality gurukula schools in every district.References
