KentuckyFriedCruelty.com

KentuckyFriedCruelty.com (April 9, 1986) was the legal name of Christopher Garnett, a youth outreach worker for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). He had changed his name to protest the explicit animal abuse to chickens by the American fast-food chain KFC, also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken. The PETA website shows a copy of KentuckyFriedCruelty.com's drivers license bearing what was his legal name. [http://www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com/whatsinaname.asp "What's in a name?"] , PETA, retrieved July 12, 2006.] PETA member Pamela Anderson expressed her support for the name change, as did his parents, although they continued to call him Chris. [http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10924505/ Interview with KentuckyFriedCruelty.com] , "The Situation with Tucker Carlson", MSNBC, January 18, 2006.] KentuckyFriedCruelty.com promised his mother he would change his name back again when the PETA campaign against KFC is over, which he did in July 2006, [ [http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2006/08/14/national/a110540D03.DTL "PETA activists go back to given names"] , 2006-08-14] though PETA's campaign against KFC and the website which shares his former namesake both continue.

Involvement with PETA

At the time of his name change, Garnett was the Street Team coordinator of peta2, a PETA youth outreach program. He left PETA to return to school.
