Kuakata (Bangla: কুয়াকাটা) is a scenic sea
beach in south-westernBangladesh . It is about 320 Kilometres south ofDhaka , the capital, and about 70 Kilometres from thePatuakhali District headquarters. The kuakata beach is 30 km long and 6 km wide. On 13 September, 2007 government have announced red alert in Kuakata as caution for a possible Tsunami. Banglapedia ] The government and local business owners have made currently significant development. Not so long ago tourists were uncomfortable to visit Kuakata due to poor communication systems and dangerous road conditions. Beside that the local communities were not very supportive towards the tourists; resulting some unpleasant events in the beach area.But now, those days seems gone from Kuakata beach. People are now more business concerned and communications are much better than before. A new Police station was build 4 years ago and Community awareness is in place.
