"King of Rock" is the second album by hip hop trio Run-D.M.C..

Produced in 1985, the album sees the group adopting a more rock-influenced sound, with several tracks prominently featuring heavy guitar riffs. The song, King of Rock, is featured on and Amplitude.

Album information

Though Run-D.M.C.'s original version of "Slow and Low" (recorded as a demo during the sessions for this album) would not be officially released until the 2005 Deluxe edition of "King of Rock", a cover version, recorded by the Beastie Boys, appeared on the latter's 1986 debut album, "Licensed to Ill".

According to the liner notes of the 1999 Beastie Boys anthology "The Sounds of Science", "Slow and Low" was one the Beasties' favorite tracks from the "King of Rock" sessions, prompting them to obtain permission to record it themselves. In the music video for the song "King of Rock" there is an extended video of Buddy Holly performing on The Ed Sullivan Show.
