Timothy Sheehy (born
September 3 , 1948 in Fort Frances,Ontario and raised in nearbyInternational Falls ,Minnesota ) is a retiredice hockey player. He played Minnesota high school hockey for International Falls before joining theBoston College men's ice hockey team. He was one of the most outstanding hockey players in theMinnesota State High School League during a long run by International Falls and St. Paul Johnson schools great teams. Sheehy, who has dual citizenship, also played for Team USA at the 1969 and 1971Ice Hockey World Championship as well as the 1972 US Olympic hockey team that surprisingly won the Silver Medal at the1972 Winter Olympic Games .Sheehy was signed by the
World Hockey Association 'sNew England Whalers after the Olympics and later also played 433 games for the WHAEdmonton Oilers andBirmingham Bulls before moving on to theNational Hockey League where he played a total of 27 games for theDetroit Red Wings andHartford Whalers before retiring from professional hockey in 1980.Sheehy was inducted into the
United States Hockey Hall of Fame in1997 . He is the nephew of legendaryNational Football League playerBronko Nagurski . His younger brotherNeil Sheehy also played in the NHL.ee also
