Robert Waldby (died January 1398) was a native of York and an Austin Friar who followed the Black Prince into Aquitaine. After studying at Toulouse, he became professor of theology there.

He was possibly Bishop of Sodor and Man (1381) before becoming successively Bishop of Aire in Gascony (1387); Archbishop of Dublin to which he was transferred on 14 November 1391;Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 351] Bishop of Chichester to which he was transferred in late 1395;Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 239] and finally Archbishop of York to which he was provided on 5 October 1397, a post which lasted until his death on 6 January 1398.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 282]

He was buried in Westminster Abbey, where his brass remains, in the Chapel of St. Edmund.
