KFXP is the local Fox affiliate for Idaho Falls and Pocatello, Idaho. It broadcasts an analog signal on channel 31, and at the current time does not broadcast a digital signal. The station is owned by Compass Communications of Idaho.

Shortly after sign-on, Fox 31 partnered with television station KPVI to provide a 9 o'clock pm newscast Monday through Friday. The concept died off after a few years and entertainment programming returned to the timeslot.

However, as of October 30, 2006; KPVI is trying a 9 o'clock newscast again on sister station KFXP which is titled "NBC Newschannel 6 at 9" as well as KXTF Fox 35 which airs in the Magic and Wood River Valleys.

Digital television

Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997 [http://www.transmitter.com/FCC97115/chanplan.html] , the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 17, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KFXP will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").
