United States .Headquartered in
Las Vegas, Nevada , Sunbelt was founded in1979 following the purchase of KORK-TV, Las Vegas'NBC affiliate, by local attorney James E. (Jim) Rogers and 16 Las Vegas residents. KORK-TV was renamedKVBC in1980 , and Rogers expanded Sunbelt's reach to include other stations inArizona ,Idaho ,Montana ,Nevada , andWyoming . Most of Sunbelt's stations are NBC affiliates.tations

Though not related to Sunbelt Communications directly, company owner Jim Rogers is also the founder and curator of the Sunbelt Classic and Antique Automobile Museum ( [ [http://www.sunbeltcars.com] ), located near KVBC's studios in Las Vegas. Most of the cars displayed come from Rogers's personal collection.
Rogers also serves as the Chancellor of the
Nevada System of Higher Education , and has provided financial support for colleges and universities, either through personal contributions or through the Sunbelt Communications Education Foundation, which awards college scholarships and offers financial assistance to graduating high school students in Sunbelt's broadcast regions.In addition, The
University of Arizona 'sJames E. Rogers College of Law is named after him in recognition of his philanthropy to the school.References
