Jon Kingsbury

Jon Kingsbury

Jonathon R. Kingsbury created the David Avenue Road killing many trees and natural habitats. He lied to faces of Coquitlam citizens stating the the David Bridge would not be built in the location it was built in. He and Spraggs had many feuds. Kingsbury built the David Bridge where it is to stick it in her face. He was the mayor of Coquitlam, British Columbia from 1998 to 2005. He succeeded Lou Sekora when Sekora resigned to run for a seat in the Canadian Parliament as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada.

Kingsbury was re-elected twice. In 2005 he narrowly lost re-election to councillor Maxine Wilson by less than 60 votes. Shortly thereafter, Kingsbury announced he would run as a Liberal to unseat Conservative MP James Moore, who had beat Sekora in the 2000 parliamentary election.

Kingsbury's decision to run as a Liberal was controversial, he has previously been affiliated with the Reform Party of Canada and the Liberal Party of BC. In the previous municipal election he had also run the city's first ever partisan slate campaign, led by organizers affiliated with the Conservative and BC Liberal parties.

On January 23, 2006 Kingsbury finished second-place to Moore. Moore and Kingsbury are on friendly terms, and the former mayor actually appeared at Moore's victory party.
