José Barata-Moura

José Barata-Moura

José Adriano Rodrigues Barata-Moura, ComIH (Lisbon, June 26 1948) is a Portuguese academic and writer and was, from May 7 1998 to May 22 2006, the Rector of the University of Lisbon. He graduated in philosophy in 1970.

He is also a long time member of the Portuguese Communist Party, having written several essays on marxist subjects.

Barata-Moura is also the author of several songs, mainly children's songs (e.g. "Come a papa, Joana").
