"ALT-J" (Research in Learning Technology) is a peer-reviewed journal which aims to promote good practice in the use of learning technologies in education and industry and to facilitate collaboration between practitioners, researchers, and policy makers. The current editors are Frances Bell, University of Salford, UK and Rhona Sharpe, Oxford Brookes University, UK. ALT-J is published three times per year for the Association for Learning Technology by Routledge Journals, Taylor and Francis Ltd, 4 Park Square, Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxon OX14 4RN, UK.
History
The Journal of the Association for Learning Technology was first published, under the name “ALT-J”, by the University of Wales Press in July 1993. The first editor was Gabriel Jacobs, who has been followed by David Squires, Grainne Conole, Martin Oliver and Jane Seale. The Journal has welcomed Associate and Guest Editors Philip Barker, Graham Chesters, James Hoekema, Denise Whitelock, Adrian Bowman and Rick Trainor. Most recently, Maggi Savin-Baden and Robert Ward are Guest Editors for a special issue on learning and teaching in immersive virtual worlds [http://www.alt.ac.uk/callforpapers_altj_ivw.html] .
