- Sheffield Interchange
Sheffield Interchange is a bus station in
Sheffield ,England . As well as containing around 30 bus stops it also has an information desk and shops within the Archway Centre. The Interchange is integrated with the railway station by way of a signposted covered walkway between the two, it is a short walk from the city centre and tram. It is also close to the Old Queen's Head, the oldest domestic building in Sheffield, and one of only three timber-framed buildings.Formerly called Pond Street bus station, it was opened in 1936. In 1956, covered accommodation was built, replacing the collection of bus stops. From
8 October 1960 it stopped sharing its accommodation with theSheffield Tramway . In the early 1990s, work began on the reconstruction of the bus station and was renamed Sheffield Interchange.Bibliography
