He was a member of the Czechoslovakian team at Italia 90, where he was sent off against Germany in the quarter-final in Milan.Moravčík played for Saint-Étienne, Bastia and
MSV Duisburg before moving to Scottish side Celtic in November 1998. Signed by fellow Slovakian Dr Jozef Vengloš for a fee of just £300,000, he became a hero in the eyes of theParkhead faithful, forming an outstanding partnership withHenrik Larsson .Moravčík's first two goals for Celtic came against their arch-rivals Rangers on November 21, 1998, in what turned out to be a memorable 5–1 victory in the midst of a very poor season. He stayed at
