A strongly Mormon area, the district has been continuously represented by a member ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since1951 .Since
1999 the district has been represented in theUnited States House of Representatives byMike Simpson , a Republican from Blackfoot.The district was created for the 1918 Congressional election by the
