Although Ahmed Rushdi arrived in Pakistan to pursue a career as an actor, he was selected as a singer in the popular show of
Radio Pakistan , 'Bachchon Ki Duniya', in which he scored his first all-time hit, 'Bunder Road Se Kemari' in 1954. He pretty much went unnoticed until 1961, when he sung the popular song,'Chand Sa Mukhra Gora Badan' in the filmSaperan , for which he received his firstNigar Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
