Medal record Men’s Athletics Competitor for United Kingdom Olympic Games Bronze 1992 Barcelona 4x400 m relay David Allan Grindley (born 29 October 1972 in Wigan) is a British former 400 metres runner who reached the final of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.
Athletics career
In the 1992 Olympic 400m final, Grindley set a new UK record of 44.47 seconds and came sixth, at the age of just 19. The following year he was unable to participate in the World Championships in Stuttgart in which he had been tipped to win a medal due to injury. In September 1993 he won the Grand Prix final in London but did not continue his career due to injury problems.
Personal life
Grindley later worked as a commercial pilot and had a spell playing Rugby Union with Orrell.[1]
