Vienna Cup (football)

The Vienna Cup was a football competition held in Vienna, Austria and organized by Vienna Football Club. [ [http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/article808590.ece Questions & Answers - Times Online ] ] It was one of the first competitions played between teams across Europe, having been played for in 1914. It was only played once due to the outbreak of World War I, and won by Glentoran [ [http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/article2056516.ece Belfast Telegraph] ] , which became the first team from the British Isles to win an European tournament [ [http://pic5.piczo.com/lisburngsc/?g=30438615&cr=5 lisburngsc ] ] . Other teams that competed in the competition included Burnley, Celtic, Hertha BSC [ [http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/article2056516.ece Belfast Telegraph] ] and an Austria Select XI.
