- Kawich Range
The Kawich Range is found in
Nye County in southernNevada in theUnited States , just south of theHot Creek Range . The southern part of the range lies on theNellis Air Force Range . The mountains cover an area of about 426 square miles and contain Kawich Peak, at 9,404 feet above sea level. TheBureau of Land Management manages 50.3% of the mountains, and 39.7% is part of the Air Force Range. AUSFWS National Wildlife Refuge makes up 8.9% of the range.Vegetation is primarily
Sagebrush scrub andPiñon -juniper . The mountains are home toporcupine s and several species of mice, andChipmunk s,vole s,squirrel s, andgopher s can also be found.American kestrel s,MacGillivrays warbler ,Bullock's oriole , andhairy woodpecker s also use the Kawich Range.References
