KSKQ was a
Los Angeles radio station that broadcasts at 1540 AM. The station was owned by Spanish Broadcasting System and was known as "Super KQ." Super KQ played various Spanish-language musical forms at part of its format, including salsa and merengue music similar to its sister station inNew York City , WSKQ (nowWSNR ).In 1993, Super KQ's format moved to 97.9 FM (now
KLAX-FM ). 1540 AM became Mexican regional KXMG, "Mega 1540." Later, this frequency became KMPC. The frequency now broadcast in Korean after several years with a sports radio format.KSKQ signed off on
July 31 ,1992 to be replaced withRegional Mexican KLAX-FM "La X," much to the consternation of its fans. Today, "La Raza" has shifted to aRegional Mexican format and is presently owned bySpanish Broadcasting System .The SKQ call sign continues to this day on sister station
