Farmington High School is a high school in Farmington, Connecticut, serving grades 9-12. Farmington High School holds the distinction of being the highest ranked high school in Connecticut in Newsweek's 2005 poll, ranked #271. These rankings are based largely on the number of AP exams taken in comparison with the number of graduating seniors. This year, nearly 900 AP exams will be taken by 375 students, according to district statistics. Farmington High School offers over a dozen AP classes.

Farmington High School's music department is one of the largest and most active in the state, with respect to participation in regional and statewide music competitions. The FHS music department often turns over the largest number of musicians in its regional devision music festival in the Connecticut Music Educators' Association (Northern Division), and is usually second only to Greenwich High School in number of musicians in the CMEA All-State Festival. Farmington has also had several students be accepted to the band, orchestra, and chorus at the biennial National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Music Festival. Farmington is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and is an active participant in the American Choral Directors Association. Music courses at Farmington include: three bands, a jazz band and a jazz combo, a percussion ensemble, three women's ensembles, a men's ensemble, a mixed choir, two select a cappella choirs, four orchestras, a small chamber orchestra group, and an AP Music Theory class. The Farmington High School Music Department has toured, performed, and competed in cities and countries around the world, including San Antonio (2004), Boston, Mexico, England, Ireland (2006), Washington D.C. (2008), and has performed at Carnegie Hall (2007 and 2008).

Farmington High School is also known in the area for its athletics. Many teams are very competitive and regularly have winning seasons. During the past year, the girls basketball team was almost very successful, losing at the buzzer at the State championships. From 1994 to present, FHS has won state championships in Soccer (Men's- '94,'96,'01) (Women's- '03, '05), Ice Hockey in 2005, Field Hockey, and Swimming. The Farmington High school boys crew team has also done very well in recent years, placing third in the state in 2003, and second in 2007. They are now competing in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts. Many student athletes have gone on to play in college as well. The Farmington High School mascot is the Indians. Rivals in many sports include Avon, Simsbury, Northwest Catholic, East Catholic and Berlin.

Upon his departure in fall 2007, principal Kevin Ryan was replaced by Dr. Timothy Breslin.
