The club is a multi-sports but the main sports are football and basketball. The club also has chess, gymnastics and kick-boxing. The club has a great history in Portugal and it’s still today one of the clubs with more participations on Portuguese Championship and in Portuguese Cup. In basketball, the club won 2 National Championships and 6 Portuguese Cup. In both sports, the club has represented Portugal in European competitions. At the level of young squads, the club is known as a trainer of great talents in football and basketball.

FC Barreirense was always at the top of the national basketball, winning two National Championships and six Cups of Portugal and even participating in the European Clubs Championship twice. On the first occasion ,FC Barreirense played against the Spanish colossusReal Madrid CF in 1958 and then with the Etoile de Charville, champion of France, also in 1958. The game withReal Madrid CF was in the history of the Portuguese sport since it was the first live television in Portugal of a basketball match and the first game in a European competition for a Portuguese club.Beyond these presences in the European Cup of Clubs, the club also played several international matches, such as, with Tennessee and Bittebeng from the
