Created on April 1, 1993 as part of the national telecommunications restructuring, Moldtelecom was a state company. On January 5, 1999 Moldtelecom was reorganized and became a Joint Stock Company with the State being the unique stockholder. The company provides fixed telephony and Internet services of national coverage. The services however are unavailable in the Transnistrian territory.

- 2004 - Moldtelecom launches MaxDSL, an internet service via ADSL.
- March 1, 2007 - Moldtelecom starts offering Mobile services under the brand of Unité.
- 2008 - Moldtelecom launches MaxFiber, an internet service via FTTx.
- 2009 - Moldtelecom starts offering IPTV services.
- April 1, 2010 - Moldtelecom launches 3G telephony.
Telephony
Moldtelecom is the main communications provider in Moldova controlling 97% of the market in Moldova.
Amplus is the trade name of the fixed telephone network wireless (Wireless Local Loop-WLL) based on CDMA technology, which uses the standard CDMA2000 and has been launched by Moldtelecom in 2007.The advantage of this technology is that allows you to use telephone service even in regions where the connection to the traditional telephone network is difficult or even impossible. Amplus provides services similar to traditional telephony: receiving and making calls, access to network Internet and many other additional services.For doing this, Amplus subscribers need a wireless phone, that they are receiving for free when mains Amplus communication. Moldtelecom company provides Video Telephony too. Video Telephony enables video call between two or more persons located both on the territory of the Republic of Moldova (national) and abroad (International). This is a new service in Moldtelecom.
Telephone Cards allow local, long distance and international calls without the need of a contract or subscription. The wide range of values, the quality of talks plus advantageously for various broadcasting turns the cards in a convenient way of calling. There are two types of phone cards:
- Tête-à-tête cards
- Chip Cards
Tête-à-tête cards combine simplicity and availability with the advantage of discounted rates for national and international calls to fixed and mobile. Chip Cards allow local, long distance, international calls and mobile networks from all the public phones from Moldtelecom network.

Dial-Up connection is available across the country everywhere where there is a land-line available and is offered under the brand of "Internet Total".MaxDSL
MaxDSL is an internet service offered via ADSL technology.
The service offers connection with speeds ranging from 4 to 20 Mbit/s for download and 1 Mbit/s for upload in all regional centers, large cities and towns.[2]
In 2008 there were 81.800 subscribers.MaxFiber
MaxFiber is an internet service offered via FTTB or Fiberoptic cable.
The service offers connection with speeds ranging from 30 to 100 Mbit/s for both download and upload for external connections and 100 Mbit/s for MD-IX resources.[3]IPTV
Since 2009 Moldtelecom offers IPTV services to its internet subscribers. The service is paired with internet (Internet + IPTV) and is provided through MaxDSL or MaxFiber networks.Mobile Telephony / Unité
Main article: UnitéUnité is a mobile network operator in Moldova. Working in CDMA2000 standard on frequency of 450 MHz and UMTS standard on frequency of 2100 MHz. Moldtelecom is 100% shareholder of the operator. The service is available throughout the country.
Unité also offers 3G mobile Internet service under the band "3G Connect" with services available in all regional centers and large cities with speeds up to 14,4 Mbit/s.
21 May 2010 becomes one of the most memorable days, Unité moves to a new stage of development of mobile communications around the country and becomes the operator with the largest network of the third generation of the Republic of Moldova working in the UMTS standard.External links
