- British National Studios
The former British National Studio is located on Clarendon Road,
Borehamwood ,Hertfordshire , UK. It is currently used by theBBC and has been in continuous use since its opening in 1927.John Maxwell founded
British International Pictures and based his operation at the studio from 1927 to 1933. At that time, he changed the company name to theAssociated British Picture Corporation . ABPC used the studio for many years, principally as a production centre for its television arm,Associated British Corporation . However, the studio was sold toLew Grade ´sAssociated TeleVision in 1961.Until 1983, the studio was in continuous use as the London base for Grade's television interests. As part of independent TV restructuring, ATV was forced to dispose of this asset and sold it to the BBC.
