John Minko

John Minko, also known as "the Mink", is a "20/20 sports anchor" on radio station WFAN in New York and has worked there since its inception in 1987. [ [http://www.wfan.com/pages/119309.php?contentType=4&contentId=234603 WFAN - The Fan - John Minko ] ] Nicknamed "Coach" by his coworkers, Minko provides listeners with up-to-the-minute sports news, Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 10am and 5pm (Monday-Thursday) and 6am and 12pm (Sunday). He has also, at times, been called the "Dean of Updates", a moniker in recognition of his seniority.

Minko appears with the "Mike and the Mad Dog" crew on the YES Network, available on many cable networks across the country and via Direct TV. Minko is often the butt of jokes made by Mike and Chris including false accusations of making critical remarks regarding other members of the radio station or claims that he has boasted about a personal achievement. He is also teased about his button-down personality and inability to ad-lib during his updates.

Since 2000, Minko has been the play-by-play voice of Army football on WABC 770 and WEPN. He also serves as the update person for Mike Francesa's nationally syndicated "NFL Now" show. More recently, Minko has served as the fill-in radio voice of the New Jersey Nets. His trademark call is "Bingo!" Minko is a graduate of Butler University.

Minko is frequently teased by Mike & Chris. Whenever he fills in to call a game on the radio, the next day Mike & Chris will play audio clips from the game and critique him. Chris also always sarcastically introduces him as "The voice of the New Jersey Nets" or whatever team he called the day before.
