Tony Anholt (19 January 1941 – 26 July 2002) was a British actor best known for his roles as Security Chief Tony Verdeschi in the second season of
Gerry Anderson 'stelevision series "" (1976-1977), Paul Buchet in "The Protectors " (1972-1973) and as Charles Frere in the highly-successful BBC drama series "Howards' Way " (1985-1990).Anholt was originally a continuity announcer for the
BBC World Service . He also made a guest appearance in theOnly Fools and Horses episode "To Hull and Back" asBoycie 's business partner Abdul.He was born in
Singapore . His family moved toAustralia before the end ofWorld War II , then toSouth Africa for a brief time, and eventually settled in theUnited Kingdom . He married and divorced twice. The first, in 1964, to Sheila Willet, with whom he had a son, actorChristien Anholt . They divorced in 1986. His second marriage was in 1990, to actressTracey Childs , who he co-starred with in "Howards' Way". They divorced in 1998.Anholt's last filmed acting work was for Canadian television productions; he appeared in small roles in several episodes of "
Lexx " and also guest starred on his son, Christien's series "Relic Hunter ".Anholt died in
London of abrain tumor in July 2002 aged 61.The name of Paul Buchet in "The Protectors" came from Charles Buchet, Managing Director of Citroën UK, which had loaned several cars, including a
Citroën SM andDeux Chevaux , to the production. The production had mentioned they were looking for a common but non-clichéd French surname; Buchet suggested they use his Fact|date=March 2008.External links
