Idaga Hamus (Tigrigna "Thursday Market") is a town in northern
Ethiopia . Located 80 kilometers north ofMekele in theMirabawi Zone of theTigray Region (or "kilil") ofEthiopia , this town has a latitude and longitude of coord|14|11|N|39|34|E with an elevation of 2670 meters above sea level.Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Idaga Hamus has an estimated total population of 8,474 of whom 3,962 were males and 4,512 were females. It is the largest settlement in
Tsegede woreda .A number of rock-hewn churches have been reported near this town which include: Debre Zakarios Giyorgis and Cherqos, a collapsed one at Dengelat, Guwahigot Yesus and Yohannes, and Tahcot Maryam Tsiyon.
