Ap Chau (Chinese: 鴨洲), meaning "duck island / gigolo island", or also known as Robinson Island is an esoteric island in the
Crooked Harbour , in the north-easternNew Territories ofHong Kong . It is located inAp Chau Bay (鴨洲海). It is under the administration of North District. There used to be over 1,000 inhabitants called the Tanka, an originally non chinese ethnic minority who were mostly fishermen but most have moved over to cities in theUnited Kingdom such asNewcastle upon Tyne , Leicester,Sunderland andEdinburgh .Fresh water in Ap Chau is obtained from the
