Shanley High School, once called Sacred Heart Academy, is an American Catholic high school located in Fargo, North Dakota. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fargo. It currently serves about 350 students and is a member of the Fargo Catholic Schools Network.

Shanley is perhaps best known as the school where Sid Cichy produced one of the greatest football dynasties the state has ever seen, leading Shanley to 15 state championships, 11 undefeated seasons and a 59-game winning streak. He finished his 30-year career with a 231-38-3 record. Cichy has received countless national honors, including National High School Coach of the Year in 1975 and a spot in the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Because of his talent, influence, and inspiration for students and athletes at the school, Shanley created in 2004 a scholarship in his name. At Shanley, Cichy also coached baseball star Roger Maris, who held the official MLB single season home run record from 1961 to 1998. Other prominent alumni include superfan Ryan Witteman, former Major League Baseball pitcher Rick Helling, professional golfer Andy Doeden, financial services pioneer Michael Monson, and collegiate basketball stars Angie Welle and Nick Jacobson, and famous sports fanatic Ryan Witteman.

The school has also received recognition for its involvement in the activities of speech and debate.

In the fall of 2005, Shanley's Concert Chorale was given the honorable designation of "Governor's Choir" for the state of North Dakota. The Chorale is directed by Rebecca Raber.

Athletics

The athletic teams at Shanley are called "The Deacons".

Shanley had one of the most prominent football teams in the state through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970's, led by legendary coach Sid Cichy. The Deacons had the longest consecutive unbeaten streak in the country at one time: 59 games in a row.

Choral Department

Shanley is home to a very large chorale program with two choirs, the Concert Chorale and the Varsity Choir. The Varsity Choir is made up of Freshmen and Sophomores, while the Concert Chorale is made up of Seniors, Juniors, and select auditioned Sophomores. The membership of both choirs is over one-third of the total membership of Shanley High School and has performed its concerts to wide acclaim. The choirs have toured recently to Seattle, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Colorado to share their love of choral music through public performances and service concerts. Their website may be found at [http://www.shanleychoirs.com www.shanleychoirs.com]

The choirs present their popular annual "Candlelight Christmas Concerts" at the Church of the Nativity each December. The concerts begin the program with the majesty and great wonder of God’s creation and the prophecy of Christ’s coming before continuing to the Holy Family, Bethlehem, and the birth of the Christ Child. The musical journey concludes with Christ’s sacrifice for us and our call to serve one another with love. The concerts include multiple choirs, lighting, orchestra, narration, audience participation and liturgical dance.

The department also sponsors various small groups includuding Quintessence, Sandpebbles, Psalm 100, and Cornerstone. Quintessence is a special women's choir consisting of 16 members. Its male counterpart is Sandpebbles which also contains 16 members. Psalm 100 and Cornerstone are worship teams which provide music for services at the school. Members of the choir are also able to participate in numerous music festivals and competitions.
