Annet is a designated
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a massive bird community. The most famous of its inhabitants is thepuffin . The island contains many burrows in its cliffs made by members of theauk family who breed here every year.Landing on the island is restricted but boats from St Mary's take visitors on a sea tour around the sanctuary to view its splendid bird population. Depending on the time of year the puffins can be seen standing outside their burrows or swimming around and diving for
fish . The boatmen try to ensure that their visitors get a good chance to view the puffins. The island is managed by
The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust , who are responsible for the management of all the land that is leased to it by theDuchy of Cornwall on the inhabited islands, in addition to all thearchipelago 's uninhabited islands, islets and rocks.External links
