census GR|2 of 2000, there were 2,033 people, 872 households, and 504 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 607.1 people per square mile (234.3/km²). There were 926 housing units at an average density of 276.5/sq mi (106.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.43% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.54% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 1.33% of the population wereHispanic orLatino of any race.There were 872 households out of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.1% were non-families. 36.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.96.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 88.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $39,350, and the median income for a family was $54,063. Males had a median income of $40,185 versus $25,341 for females. The
