Boston Theological Institute (BTI) is the largest theological consortium in the world, bringing together the resources of universities and divinity schools throughout the greater Boston area and some of the most prestigious educational institutions. Its member schools include the following:

• Andover Newton Theological School
• Boston College Department of Theology
• Boston College School of Theology and Ministry (formerly Weston Jesuit School of Theology)
• Boston University School of Theology
• Episcopal Divinity School
• Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
• Harvard Divinity School
• Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology
• St. John's Seminary

Currently, the BTI is led by Rodney L. Petersen as its Executive Director. The assistant director is Marian Gh. Simion, a Romanian-American specialist in the study of religion, politics and religious conflicts.

Mission statement

The Boston Theological Institute is a consortium of nine theological schools and seminaries in the Boston area. We exist to share our resources and enrich each school through this institutional expression of the transformative and hospitable faith that is our common heritage. We harness our collective resources to advance ecumenical relations, model good stewardship, strengthen our teaching and research, and more fully engage our community and the world. In all these we seek to advance our individual missions and better prepare a new generation of scholars and leaders for the Church and the world. Publications

The Bulletin of the Boston Theological Institute, ISSN 1538-6597, was founded in the Fall of 2001 by Marian Gh. Simion. Its chief objective is to draw attention to the past and future activities of the schools and their faculties. The Bulletin is published once a semester, in September and January, pointing to current events in the schools, new faculty publications, articles, announcements, issues in international mission and ecumenical relationships, as well as aspects in the interrelationship between science and religion. Given its increase in prestige, the BTI Board of Trustees determined that this publication will be renamed as BTI Magazine starting with the fall 2009 issue.

Activities

The BTI supports numerous activities in the Boston area related to religion and social justice. Students and seminarians from schools within the Boston Theological Institute, as well as area school undergraduates, regularly accompany and assist its clergy and lay volunteers of The Outdoor Church which ministers to the homeless population of Boston.
