Aeronwy Bryn Thomas (born
March 3 ,1943 ) is the second child and only daughter of the Welsh poetDylan Thomas and his wife, Caitlin.Aeronwy Thomas is known worldwide as an ambassador for her father's work, and is patron of the Dylan Thomas Society. She was born in London, where her parents lived at the time, but was named after the
River Aeron in Wales, which her father loved. In 1949, the family moved to the Boathouse,Laugharne , in south-west Wales. In mid-1950, her parents' marriage was on the verge of break-up because of Dylan's infidelity, but they were reconciled a few months later. Dylan died in 1953, and Caitlin re-married in 1957. Since Caitlin's death in 1994, Aeronwy has been the leading figure in the movement to honour the memory of Dylan Thomas. She is also the President of theAlliance of Literary Societies .Aged ten, Aeronwy attended The Arts Educational School in Tring, Hertfordshire. After her father's death, she went to Sicily with her mother, later moving to Rome. She achieved a BA(Hons) in English and Comparative Religion at Isleworth College, Tefl Diploma at Woking Adult Education College, and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Wales, Swansea, in 2003. Aeronwy learned Italian and became well known for her translations of Italian poetry. She has published many articles and given talks and interviews worldwide. She spent some time in the San Francisco area and the Shasta Mountain, becoming a dedicated student of Buddhism, and discovered Zen philosophy.Aeronwy and her husband Trefor have two children: a son, Huw (whom she claims to be a
