County Route 691 is a 1.08 mile county highway entirely within the city of New Brunswick in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is the second of three designations given to Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick and North Brunswick. At CR 691's southern terminus, Livingston Avenue continues as Route 26; at its northern terminus, Livingston Avenue continues as Route 171.

Route description

When Route 26 begins to enter the city limits of New Brunswick, it terminates at Nassau Street. There, maintenance is transferred to Middlesex County, and it becomes County Route 691. Route 691 begins by passing a couple forestal areas, intersecting with local roads for most of the distance. At the intersection with Delavan Avenue, Route 691 passes an abandoned lot. The road continues southward into the city and terminates at an intersection with Suydam Street (unsigned NJ 171).

History

Route 691 originated in the 1940s as Middlesex County Route 3-R-16, stretching from its current terminus at NJ 26 for 1.40 miles to the terminus at George Street (CR 672).
