- BITX Transceiver
The BITX is an
amateur radio transceiver created by Ashhar Farhan. It operates in the 14 MHz amateur band and includessingle sideband modulation .The intention was to produce a simple design that could be easily assembled by beginners in developing countries, particularly
India . Hams in such countries often lack low cost equipment to get them on air. No expensive or hard-to-find components are required, and no specialized equipment is needed for calibration. For example, many of thetransformer s used in the transceiver are wound on ordinary tap washers. The unit employs bi-directional amplifiers to simplify switching from transmit to receive. The circuit diagram and detailed instructions are freely available on the web.
