- Angelo Garcia
Angelo Garcia (born "Angel Luis Garcia Ramos") on
March 28 ,1976 inBrooklyn ,New York was a member of Puerto Rican boy band Menudo from 1988 to 1990. A native New Yorker, he barely spoke Spanish when he auditioned for a spot in the band after seeing a television commercial inPuerto Rico during a family holiday. After two years with Menudo, Angelo signed on with World Wide Entertainment, under the direction of record executive Darrin McGillis. On McGillis's independent label, he recorded several songs including "Magic", "Yours So Completely", and a remake of singer Tiffany's hit song "
Could've Been " but it was his single "Don't Keep Me Holding On" (produced and written by Lewis Martinee of Expose fame) that became a modest success. In 1992, McGillis Records sold Angelo's recording contract toWarner Bros. Records for an undisclosed amount. After parting with his former label, he released one semi-successful Spanish album for Warner Bros Records simply entitled "Angelo". After completing his secondary education and some music projects, he put his recording career on hold after he moved to Orlando,Florida , where he earned a communications degree from theUniversity of Central Florida . After completing his studies, he returned to New York to resume his musical career once again.Since 2004 Angelo has written a number of original songs in both Spanish and English. During a 2005 reunion tour of former Menudo members
Sergio Blass , Angelo Garcia,Rawy Torres , andRobert Avellanet reunited (performing under the name "Los Ultimos Heroes"). In order to preserve his artistic independence and avoid a clichéd reworking of the Menudo sound, Angelo instead decided to record a solo album, using music he had personally written or colloborated on.One of the singles from "Cool", a ballad entitled "Entregare" (also know as "Si Es Asi") which Angelo co-wrote with Tavare, is featured in the motion picture "Yellow" starring
Roselyn Sanchez , released in 2006 in Puerto Rico.External links
