Most recently, in the NYS competition for the Nationals, the 2008 Academic Decathlon team came in second place while placing in a handful of subjects.

Debate

Schreiber's Lincoln-Douglas Debate Team was nationally dominant from 2003-2005, with three students capturing several national titles and several freshmen and sophomores being introduced to the national circuit and achieving moderate success at their respective levels. In recent years the team has been refounded by its original coach and operates on a local circuit, rarely leaving Long Island. The team has grown in size due to an impressive push by the coach. The Lincoln-Douglas Team, however, has all but been disbanded in favor of Public Forum Debate, which is currently more popular among Schreiber students. Fact|date=October 2007

In the 2006-07 school year, a Public Forum Debate team from Schreiber won the Princeton Classic. The tournament consisted of 54 teams from dozens of schools across the nation. Other

In 2004, a group of students headed by Mr. Anderson organized to create Common Sense, an alternative to the Schreiber Times. The original issue was distributed without administrative consent. Dr. Banta and Mr. Fitzgerald approved of the publication and allowed it to continue providing they could oversee its content. Although short-lived, the paper questioned the dominance of The Schreiber Times and provided a platform for students to discuss more controversial issues like abortion politics and alternative perspectives on U.S. foreign policy through a series of op-ed pieces. The paper terminated in 2005 when the last remaining founder graduated and the remaining writers and editors could not maintain it.
