K.S.C. Hasselt

Koninklijke Sporting Club Hasselt was a Belgian football club founded in 1908 as E.F.C. Hasselt. The matricule n°37 was erased in 2001 after the merge with K.S.K. Kermt to become K.S.K. Kermt-Hasselt. The club played one season in the first division in 1979-80.

The club was a fusion between 2 clubs: excelsior- Hasselt green white and Hasselt -vv,blue white, a fusion that was made just after world war 2.The new colors were blue,green and white, colors the club still has this moment.The season that they were playing in the first devision, they were playing with some well known players of holland , like Peter Ressel and Horst Blankenburg,who even played for the national Holland team.Some very well known players even played in Hasselt like the national coach René Vandereycken. Also played in Hasselt the father of Stijn Stijnen : Jean -Pierre Stijnen.The players who helped Hasselt to 1st.Division were : Norbert Verdingh,Noelmans, Philippe Vanderstraeten, Marc Billen, Paul Renaers, Dachelet, Dewaay,Keeper De Bellefroid,under coach Mr.Mangelschots, who became a respected coach afterwards in 1st.Division in St.Truiden.Ksc.Hasselt has a capacity of playing in second division , but unhapilly they are in 4th.devision at this moment.
