Henk Westbroek (born
February 27 ,1952 in Utrecht, theNetherlands ) is a Dutch radiohost,singer ,songwriter and owner of a cafe named 'Stairway to Heaven' in the city of Utrecht. He was once apolitician forLeefbaar Utrecht andLeefbaar Nederland in 1998.Westbroek studied sociology at
Utrecht University which he completed in 1973. In 1978, Westbroek, together with "the other Henk" (Henk Temming) formed the bandHet Goede Doel , with whom he scored several top ten hits. In 1991, Het Goede Doel stopped performing but they had a reunion in 2001. Since 1991, Henk Westbroek is performing solo with his band "Henk Westbroek & Consorten". He scored a couple hits like "Loods me door de storm", "Waar ze loopt te wandelen" and "Zelfs je naam is mooi" which was in the Dutch Top 40 for almost a year in 1998.In 1981 he started as a radio host and did several programmes. After hosting his show "Denk aan Henk" (think about Henk) at Dutch radio station 3FM from 1991 till 2003 (the show was cancelled due to the station restyling). He resumed his programme, now called "Denk als Henk & Friends" (think like Henk & Friends) at
Yorin FM from August 2004. The show was cancelled in March 2006 due to a station makeover and because the station was sold to another company.In 2005, Westbroek returned to the center of attention because his pet-turtle was taken away by the authorities on grounds of illegal animal possession. The documentry "Snoopy: Een atoombom op een mug" shows the whole story around Henk and his tortoise snoopy. The directors, Louis Gauthier and Tessel Schmidt, have already started Snoopy part 2.
In present day Henk has a daily webradio show at www.kxradio.nl, a station founded by
Rob Stenders .
