Picos (Portuguese for the "peaks", in
Cape Verdean Creole , written inALUPEC : "Pikus") is in central part of the central part of the municipality of Santiago,Cape Verde . The town is the 13th largest city in Cape Verde. Pico is linked with a major highway linkingAssomada and the capital city ofPraia . It is located about 70 km south of Tarrafal, SW ofPedra Badejo , W ofCalheta de São Miguel and 55 km WNW ofPraia . The national park of Pico d'Antônia which is Pico's fame is bounded to the west along its forests and its slopey valley. More mountains dominate the northeast, and the central part is farmlands.The population has been steadily and into today. The GDP for the town is low and a part of the population live in poverty, much of the population moved to other cities or elsewhere including the northern part of the world.
