Bash Street School

Bash Street School is a fictional school featured in the long-running UK comic strip The Bash Street Kids in "The Beano". It has ninety two students, as well as several members of staff, including:

* Head or "Chocolius Biccius" - The headmaster who got his name from his love of chocolate biscuits.
* Teacher or "Sir" - The teacher of Class 2B (the class the Bash Street Kids are in). He is married to Mrs Teacher
* Benny Bash - The teacher of class 4B. He is usually called "Teacher"
* Janitor or "Fittock Con" - The unfit janitor
* Winston - The janitor's cat, a crafty feline
* Olive Horrorgrub - The school cook who makes horrible food
* Samuel Persely - The teacher of class 5P
* Thomas Intall - The teacher of class 3I
* Techno - The laboratory technician, also a robot. Made his first appearance in issue 2751, dated 8 April 1995.
* Gilbert Splunge - The Bash Street School Bus conductor. The stress of this job has caused him to age quickly, and he has a long white beard despite only being 21.

The school badge is, for some reason, a red-and-black spotted toadstool, with a motto of "Simper Fungus". According to some reports the school dates back to Roman times, when a Roman scholar who looked very much like Teacher attempted to civilise the younger Britons. The school is very anachronistic, and remains in the style of British 1950s schools with such features as inkwells, hinged desks, and staff who still wear their mortarboards and academic gowns.

The school has two longstanding rivals: Blob Street School and Posh Street School. They are frequently involved in inter-school competition with either of these.

The school football shirt consists of vertical blue and white stripes.

Bash Street School is usually said to be in Beanotown although in some annuals and specials Bash Street appears to be in a separate town.

There have been many notable events in the school's recent history, this including it's temporary closure in place of 'Bash Street Academy', with which the original staff were fired, and the students completely 'remodelled' thanks to a school inspector. This however, was not to last. It was documented on the Beano Videostars DVD.
