November 6 ,1976 inLacoochee, Florida ) is a formerAmerican football running back in theNational Football League . He played for theArizona Cardinals in 2004, and played for theDallas Cowboys from 2000 to 2003. In his career so far, he has amassed 2,179 yards rushing and 276 yards receiving in 61 games played. He has rushed for nine touchdowns and caught for one in his career. He began his collegiate career at theUniversity of South Carolina in 1996 and was the Gamecocks' leading rusher in 1997 and 1998. However, off the field issues led to his dismissal by then newly-hiredLou Holtz before the start of the 1999 season. He transferred toSavannah State University inSavannah, Georgia for his senior season.His brother
Darren Hambrick was also a player in the NFL; he played insidelinebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, theCleveland Browns , and theCarolina Panthers .In September 2005, Hambrick, whose legal name is Troy Grant, was arrested on domestic abuse charges, which were dropped after prosecutors declined to file formal charges.
Hambrick was indicted Dec. 7 in U.S. District Court in Tampa. The indictment states that Hambrick, 31, sold 5 grams or more of crack cocaine on Sept. 7, distributed 50 grams or more of crack on Sept. 14 and distributed 50 grams or more of crack on Sept. 27.
