HMAS Vendetta (D69)

HMS/HMAS "Vendetta" (D-69/I-69) was a V class destroyer laid down by the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Limited, at Govan in Scotland on 25 November 1916, launched on 3 September 1917, completed on 17 October 1917 and commissioned into the Royal Navy.

"Vendetta" was transferred to the Royal Australian Navy and commissioned as "HMAS Vendetta" at Portsmouth on 11 October 1933. "Vendetta" departed for Australia on 17 October 1933 and arrived in Sydney on 21 December 1933, paid off into reserve on 31 January 1934, recommissioned on 10 October 1934, but paid off into reserve on 1 June 1938, recommissioned on 29 September 1938, and served in the Mediterranean where she participated in the Battle of Cape Matapan and was involved in the evacuation of Greece in April 1941.

HMAS "Vendetta" paid off for disposal on 27 November 1945. On 20 March 1946 she was sold to Penguin Propriety Limited at Sydney and her hull was scuttled off Sydney Heads on 2 July 1948.
