RKO Pictures underHoward Hughes , but soon returned to smaller parts for other studios.Dolenz, who was of Slovenian descent, was married to actress
Janelle Johnson . They had four children: actor and singerMicky Dolenz (George Michael Dolenz); Gemma "Coco" Dolenz; Gina Dolenz; and Debbie Dolenz. (The two youngest girls were adopted after George's death by Janelle's second husband, Dr. Scott, a minister.)Dolenz died of a heart attack in 1963, aged 55.
