Jatindracharan Guha (March 13, 1892,
Calcutta - Jaunary 3, 1972), popularly known as Gobar Guha (or as Gobar Goho in theUnited States andEurope ) was a notableIndia n wrestler and practitioner ofPehlwani . His father's name was Ramcharan. He studied in Vidyasagar School, Calcutta and passed the Entrance examination at the age of 17. He received his initial training from his father and his uncle Ambikacharan, who was also a noted wrestler. He took part in many wrestling bouts during his Europe tours in 1910 and 1912-15 and Europe and the United States tour from 1920-26 and won a number of them. Gobar Guha is best known for his world light heavyweight championship win against catch wrestlerAd Santel on August 24, 1921 inSan Francisco . His son Manik was a also a wrestler. [Sengupta, S. (ed.)
