StarFist is a series of military
science-fiction novel s set in the 25th century and written from the viewpoint of the men of the ConfederationMarine Corps 34th FIST (Fleet Initial Strike Team) and later in the spin-off series Starfist: Force Recon.As of January 2007, the StarFist series comprises 12 novels written by
David Sherman andDan Cragg , with the recent addition of the novel, Firestorm. An additional spinoff series by the same authors, entitled , was started in 2005 with the publication of Backshot.Authors

David Sherman andDan Cragg .Sherman was born in Niles, Ohio. Sherman grew up in
Kansas ,Texas ,New Jersey and Omaha,Nebraska , from where he joined theUnited States Marine Corps soon after turning 18. While a Marine he served in the peace time infantry, a tour as a military policeman, and fought inVietnam . After his departure from the U. S. Marine Corps he moved toPhiladelphia where he studied at thePennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts . He had a brief stint as a sculptor, winning awards for his work. He began writing in 1983, and his first book,Knives in the Night , was published in 1987. Altogether, as of June 2007, Sherman has published 26 novels, including 15 with his co-author,Dan Cragg . After a long residence in Philadelphia, in 2004 he moved to southern Florida.Dan Cragg was a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army, serving for twenty-two years with eleven years in overseas stations, with five and half of them in Vietnam; at retirement Cragg was a
Sergeant Major . He is also a writer of military non-fiction, including "Inside the VC and NVA"' and many others based around theVietnam conflict. He and his wife live in Virginia.tarfist: Force Recon Series
While the Starfist original series deals primarily with a particular Confederation Marine
brigade , the 34th FIST (Fleet Initial Strike Team), Starfist: Force Recon describes the experiences of the men and women who carry out intelligence-gathering and small-unit raids behind enemy lines. The Confederation Marine Force Recon mission is very similar to that of United States Marine Force Recon, with which co-author Sherman, a former US Marine, is familiar.As of January 2007, the Starfist: Force Recon series comprises two novels written by
