- Phil Alain
Phil Alain (born January 8th, 1968) is a Canadian painter.
He began his art career at the age of 13 in
St. Albert, Alberta Canada when his artwork was featured as the full cover image of the Can West publication - The Edmonton JournalAlain took correspondence courses in art from the Minneapolis, Minnesota Art Instruction School at the age of 15. In 1988-90 Alain attended the
University of Alberta in the B.F.A. program. In 1992 Alain received a scholarship to carry on his studies inGrande Prairie, Alberta at the Grande Prairie Regional College in the Fine Arts Program.In 1997 after years of solo gallery showings and various group shows Alain desided to create his own arts event called Night of Artists [http://www.NightofArtists.com] . It began as a solo show featuring new works by Alain and live music. In 2003 Alain expanded the show across western Canada and not only showcased his own work but also the work of over 70 artists across Canada. In 2005 Alain again expanded the show across Canada. It is now an annual arts events in many Canadian cities.
In 2003, Alain founded "NOA magazine", the national arts magazine for Night of Artists. This magazine has a distribution base of 10,000 issues annually.
Alain has had international attention with his art projects including the collaborative Mural Mosaic project [http://www.muralmosaic.com] which he co-produces with Lewis Lavoie and Paul Lavoie.Alain along with mural designer Lewis Lavoie and co-producer Paul Lavoie were special guests of Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Visit in
Edmonton, Alberta as they presented the mural to Her Majesty the Queen.
